Teri Hatcher wears AIISHA

A woman I looked forward to seeing every week for years, Teri Hatcher wore my very own couture draped green dress! I’m thrilled and honored as I truly love Teri. She’s so elegant and more importantly a human being that her fans look up to.

Teri-Hatcher-Wears-Aiisha

The Desperate Housewives star attended the LA Children’s Hospital recently looking super glamorous, elegant and gorgeous. Teri wore an AIISHA Couture dress from our hand-draped collection in a rich green hue. Two people in particular made me so proud by wearing my draped collection, Raya Abirached and Meagan Good. Now Teri certainly is one of my very favorites!

Thank you Teri for wearing AIISHA!

Legends and folklore, myths and tales, Scotland is the home of storytelling. Having inspired the imagination of some of the world’s most famous poets and authors from Robert Burns to Robert Louis Stephenson, this is the land where the peoples beauty shines through their traditions, history and heritage. A fascinating country where they walk proud, where individuality is strength and beauty is in abundance, the freedom to inspire and be inspired.

This is the story of my collection, representing the mystery and charm of this country and its people, where there are no limitations to creativity and where personalities shine. The movement of the landscape is as soft as the fabrics I have chosen, the colors of the land are as vivid as the jewels tones in each of my unique pieces and where we are free to wear what we want and where we want, there are no rules, just use your imagination.

Braun Facial Epilator & Cleansing Brush

If you’re an eyebrow lover, like myself, then this product is your must-have. I’ve been in love with cleaning & shaping my eyebrows since I was a teenager. I got so good at it that my relatives and friends would cue in line for me to get theirs done. I went through all traditional ways, threads and tweezers. Never did I think that there will be another, much better, alternative.

Jessica alba

Braun came up with an elegant invention that will clean your sensitive facial areas with the most precision. The extra slim head captures the finest hairs down to 0,02 mm. It is also considerably faster and more thorough than manual tweezers. However, it is not to be used for shaping your eyebrows.

The Braun Facial Epilator & Cleansing Brush also strikes on what most of us women care about the most: cleaning our faces. Best advise is to make this a part of your shower routine as the brush gently removes the dead skin preparing your skin to absorb your creams.

Prices start from 200 AED and its available in all hypermarkets, supermarkets and pharmacies.

I had the pleasure to interview Dr. Gabriele Stahl, who’s responsible for The Braun Facial Epilator & Cleansing Brush, and who gave some valuable advise on our beauty regime:

Dr. G

1. As a practical woman with minimum time for pampering herself, what is the best beauty/ facial regime that I, and every woman like me, should follow?

The key to a healthy skin is simply the result of a healthy and well balanced lifestyle. Just apply sunscreen, eat healthy, do not overdose on creams and make up, and make sure to clean your face in the evening after applying any cosmetics and before you apply your night cream.

Her answer reminded me of one my favourite speeches/ song: Everybody’s Free to Wear Sunscreen by Laz Buhrmann . You should listen to it :)

2. Is it healthy to apply a face cream after using the Braun exfoliating option?

Depends on the type of cream, and the skin type. For example dry skin would best suit a thicker moisturizer, oily skin would benefit from a moisturizing gel – but for optimal results it’s better to use the Braun cleansing brush, then use the epilator at the end of the day and apply your care cosmetic product.

3. Could the Braun facial epilator cause the new hair to grow thicker or more intense?

Not at all; epilation has been proven to be the best hair removal method as it removes hair from the root and does not irritate the skin, It is much faster and more thorough than tweezers. It removes four times shorter hairs than wax, so you don’t have to wait for the hair to be completely visible. It is much longer lasting up to 4 weeks. And finally, you can epilate at home or on the go, no need to run to that threading appointment.

4. What product or technique should we follow in order to clean and what techniques should we follow in order to exfoliate since both use the same head brush?

Braun’s deep-pore cleansing brush is six times better than manual cleansing. The cleansing brush preps the skin to absorb products more efficiently and leaves women with visibly brighter skin. The brush can be used every day on cheeks, T-zone and chin for a more radiant skin. Apply soap, gel, cleansing milk or scrub on your wet skin. Switch on the brush and start on the forehead. You can move to the nose and then outward towards the cheeks on either side. Spend more time on oily zones. It can also be used on the neck and décolleté. Exfoliation can be done with your favorite cosmetic exfoliation product and we recommend only 1 x per week.

5. Is it safe to use the head brush after tanning?

Yes absolutely; it would help clean up your pores from all the oil and dirt which can accumulate when then skin is exposed to the sun. Make sure to regularly apply sunscreen not just when tanning.

6. Can the Braun epilator be used on body parts other than the face?

Mechanically, it will work on other sensitive areas. However, it is not recommended to use one device on multiple body areas due to hygiene reasons.

Like a movie in my head, I saw the high contrast of colors, characters experimenting with their bodies, one’s side and their vices. Risellene is the perfect makeup artist for fashion shows. With her European approach, she proves to be very creative and thinks outside the box. Unfortunately, she doesn’t relate much to the Arab market. This look specifically didn’t feel complete and the gold paper was too spread in an incoherent way, especially under the eyes, it didn’t do it for me. Hard luck for Risellene; however, rest assure this is a name you will see a lot more of in the near future.

FACES Makeup Competition on MBC TV – 3rd Challenge

You remember how my career in fashion started? It was all about dressing my Barbie dolls using my aunt’s fabric left overs from her stitching days. With that, came a nostalgic challenge for this week on MBC TV with Faces: Barbie Makeup.

(Below is my look during this episode)

Aiisha Ramadan talking about Ange's makeup

Aiisha Ramadan talking about Ange’s makeup

One thing I have concluded from this week’s challenge is that creating a Barbie makeup is anything but easy. In fact, it takes few to get it right.

My favorite for this week’s challenge was Namareq. This girl is proving to have an eye for beauty, glamour and perfection. She not only got the theme to its core, but she also took a beautiful turn with accessorising her model making her look like one of the Barbie dolls I once had. Her work was impeccable.

Makeup by Namareq

My second favorite was Ange. At this stage, I have realized that Ange needs to step out of the box and push her boundaries to become a trendsetter not just a good makeup artist. I also have to admit that this was the beginning of her revolution. I just hope she keeps moving forward.

Makeup by Namareq

Risellene did a very different type of Barbie makeup. For some, it wasn’t at all a Barbie makeup. It was audacious, but not exactly where the theme was going. For others, she has broken the boundaries of a typical Barbie makeup, which was good. For me, it was good but didn’t stand out.

Makeup by Risellene

Lina surprised me this week. Although her model definitely looked like a doll, it definitely wasn’t a Barbie. It was perfect! It was everything I’d want to see in a “Fantasy Makeup”. However, for a Barbie’s makeup, it was too intense, heavy and overly contoured. I had mixed feelings about it as I truly loved it and she was by no means one of the worst looks. Having said that, among the 4 beautiful looks, she lost track of work from the original mission the most. Its also good for her to stay alert for future challenges as I want to see the best from her.

Makeup by Lina

Hadjira was one of the bottom 3 in this episode. Her makeup was beautiful and clean, but it carried absolutely no Barbie effort. It was something a woman could wear on her daily activities. If time permits, a makeup artist should invest in her research once a client hands her out the brief. Till this moment, I haven’t seen real creativity from Hadjira and she needs to work on herself a lot more.

As for Raffle, who chose to withdraw from this competition for personal reasons, I have admired her bold creativity and theatrical approach. Raffle is a makeup artist with clear identity. For this challenge, Raffle gave a Barbie doll in her own way. However, technically, she should have done a better job knowing her level of work and her love for fantasy. Anyways, I only wish her best of luck in her future career.

Next week’s challenge is a favorite of mine: Glamour, or what I refer to as Retro. I can’t wait to see what each contestant will bring to the table.

The second week’s challenge on FACES makeup competition airing every Sunday morning live on MBC TV “Sabah Alkheir Ya Arab” program was a tough one: “Mysterious Arabic” with blue being the main color.

I went for a retro glamorous look for this episode

I went for a retro glamorous look for this episode

I’m into simpler makeup, well toned face, contoured bones and defined eyes.. a flattering makeup. Makeup artists can easily take a very wrong direction with Mysterious Arabic. Unfortunately, some of the contestants took that path.

Some, on the other hand, nailed it and exceeded my expectations giving incredibly beautiful results! I was truly impressed.

My top choices where: Namareq and Lina Hussein. Each had her own style but both had clean work, spot on with the concept yet on an international level. Both executed elegant results.

Lina has a gift. She can transform any face into a beautiful one. In the first challenge, I wondered if the model’s natural beauty helped her out. It looks like I was wrong but I’ll only know for sure in the next challenge.

Makeup by Risellene

Makeup by Risellene

Risellene and Ange did beautiful work too but Risellene’s makeup didn’t exactly portray “Mysterious Arabic makeup”. It was more of a beautiful smokey makeup. Ange had beautiful results with the pop out turquoise and the beautifully toned face but I wish she could take more risk in the upcoming challenge.

Makeup by Ange

I had mixed feelings about Hadjira’s makeup as she understood this week’s challenge well but I felt the outcome was too much. The face was too glittery and the colors were intense.

Makeup by Hadjira

Makeup by Hadjira

The weakest were Lina Zoghaib and Raffle. Lina’s work was very amateur and it wasn’t clean around the eyes. It was completely out of her element and that’s what I love about this competition. It pushes talents in directions they never thought they’d take and it brings the best and worst in them. Hard luck for Lina in this competition, with a little more practice, I have no doubt she will be great.

Makeup by Lina Zoghaib

Raffle on the other hand needs a canvas to draw on. Faces restrict her work as she has a very theatrical approach to her makeup. This is good creativity but not for your every day clients. I can’t wait to see how Raffle will evolve in the upcoming challenges.

As one of the 3 judges, I’ll be sharing with you my views on looks by the makeup artists. For me, the below were the top looks by Lina Hussein and Risllene.

Lina gave me a glow in the model’s face by emphasizing on the eyes and contouring the face in such a magical way. It was my favorite look by far.

Risllene seems to be the one who understood the “Dreamy Bridal” message that we were trying to get out of this competition. She had beautiful and clean complexion, and overall her makeup was very dreamy.

The rest of the contestants, such as Ange, Lina Zoghaib and Hadjira, also gave a beautiful results. Unfortunately, each week, one makeup artist will be eliminated. This week’s challenge resulted in Rasha being eliminated. Hard luck for Rasha.

This challenge also shed the light on 2 looks that I thought could have been perfect. Namariq went oriental which I didn’t mind. It was the red lipstick that killed it for me not just because red isn’t dreamy at all, but because the model’s lips were too thin and dark red lips will make them look even thinner.

Makeup by Namareq

Makeup by Namariq

As for Raffle, everything was perfect until she drew the flowers on the model’s face. It was definitely dreamy and its good for each artist to have her own identity, but she has to ask herself if a real bride will actually want drawings on her face. Apart from that it was a really beautiful makeup.

Next week’s challenge is not an easy one, its the “Mysterious Arabic” with blue being the main ingredient of the color palette.
