This week featured the top 4 makeup artists who made it through out FACES competition on MBC TV, Saba Al Kheir Ya Arab segment every Sunday. As a judge, its getting harder every week to eliminate especially because not only are all the makeup artists improving, but also because we are getting really used to them. This week’s challenge was GLITTER.
Looks like Risellene took my feedback from last week seriously and pushed herself where she delivered a creative output of a woman made of ice. In reality, Risellene coated the lips and eyebrowse with sugar and broke that look with a pink eyeshadow. I personally loved it!

As for Namareq, she did an impeccable job. I have to point out that the pictures don’t give the real work justice. Namareq challenged herself where she created a hand-made mask of glitter going gradually from blue to purple (again, that’s not shown in the photo). After all this work, she delivered a clean picture of perfection revolving around the carnaval theme. This by far was the most difficult look and she nailed it.

Lina has a stamp called: Let me do your makeup, let me make you gorgeous! Lina took what she does best and added a fantasy of glitter mix on the face that spoke royal beauty. I simply love her work!

Anje on the other hand understood the theme, delivered a clean work and upgraded her level. Unfortunately, she was eliminated this week due to her limited creativity in this look. Anje has a classic approach that I personally admire. However, the stakes are too high right now and the artists shouldn’t play it safe. They should push themselves and get out of their element. Hard luck to Anje, I wish her all the best!

Last week’s eliminated contestant was Hadjira, who I asked her to do the work and send me photos of the out come. Hadjira went for a beautiful romantic look but still kept it safe lacked perfection. Notice the similarity between Anje’s and Hadjira’s makeup.

The beautiful French-Vietnamese actress Anne-Solenne Hatte was a grace to meet the last time I was in Paris for the Paris Fashion Week. She is kind, charismatic and genuinely beautiful. Above all, I adore her body type as she represents perfection with her real-woman slim yet rounded figure.

She has recently starred in a video clip of a song called Pauline by French singer Mat. In this video clip, she wore a beautiful AIISHA dress. Watching this video was like seeing my design from sketch to fantasy embedding all the beautiful details that I dreamt of while designing this piece and summarizing those moments by a vision that only Anne-Solenne can show to the world as she sways on the French coast.

A little project that had been on my mind for over 2 years has been put together with all the passion in my heart and has just been released publicly for everyone to watch.
The idea behind this project was to go beyond the norm in introducing our collection, instead of releasing a lookbook for few to see, we decided to take our work viral and reach for everyone. That’s the idea behind this short romantic video.

I have the pleasure to announce that our AIISHA S/S 2012 Couture collection Le Pouvoir De La Poudre will be presented in Paris for buyers to view from the 20th January until the 15th of February. The presentation coincides with the Paris Fashion Week as I’ll be there not only to meet buyers, but also to watch my favorite fashion shows like Elie Saab, Stephane Roland and George Hobeika.

This collection has participated in the latest edition of New Zealand’s Next Top Model, Ariel 3D fashion show that was hosted by June Ambrose, and will soon appear in a campaign that I can’t wait to share with the whole world. Its summer time following Ramadan and Eid. My Studio 8 clients know how crazy I can get with my colored kaftans. This season, we introduced a vast range of colors with emphasis on a classic kaftan with very elegant and subtle beading. This one came in a variaty of tones, from my favorite neon watermelon and white, to nude, turquoise, forest green, orange and a very chic red one.
I had the chance to have a photoshoot the collection with www.AnaZahra.com a platform where I occasionally blog in Arabic. I personally modeled the collection, a designer in the model’s shoes.
We have also introduced a wrap Kaftan which I especially think is extremely elegant and makes me think of a very stylish Abaya. I’ve kept our signature simplicity with bold colors as well as a few pieces in a printed silk with brown base. Although I’m not usually a fan of the color brown in fashion, this one in particular has the material feeling like a fresh breeze.
Its a very practical collection, relatively conservative, and quite affordable. Kaftans – or at least my Kaftan designs – are one of few pieces that can suit ANY body type. Trust me when I say, its a confidence booster!
