The Making of our 3D Virtual Fashion Show

Its funny how months and months of preparations are summarized into a few minute fashion show. Anticipation, press pages, people asking for invitations left and right, all for a few minutes. Usually our fashion shows vary between 20 – 60 minutes. Our 3D Virtual Fashion show with Ariel hosted by Celebrity Stylist June Ambrose on the 30th of June in Dubai was a 4-minutes fashion show. In these 4 minutes, we showcased a capsule of 15 pieces from the entire collection that will be showcased in October this year.

4 minutes were the conclusion of several months of making the dresses displayed and about 2 months day and night preparing the 3D fashion show. Preparations involved selecting the models, deciding on the different hair and makeup styles to make the models versatile, dresses that would work, music, animation ideas, filming, editing and so on.

In terms of dresses, we weren’t able to use any transparent dresses – which was a big problem , shiny dresses such as satin or heavy crystallized surfaces, feathers, or any green pieces since the shooting took place in a studio fully painted in green.

The hair and makeup had drastic changes in between each 2 outfits which ended up with 6 – 9 different looks for the 3 models used. We went for defined eyeliner (my personal favorite) and bold lips, Red – Fuchsia – Red/Orange. I was so lucky to work with one of my favorite makeup artists Samira Olfat and one of the most talented hair stylists Massimiliano Luca Comella

Every change in the video, took a 24-hour rendering. We had 3 animations created: Model blowing a kiss that spread into powder – Model throwing an actual flower and then its petals spread and felt like they were coming onto the audience watching – Model winking, which circulates into bigger winks. In the final cut, models walked out as if on a stage that was virtually built. The process took a lot of hard work from AIR, who came up with a beautiful result that was later set to be the first ever Virtual 3D Fashion Show in the Middle East and to my knowledge in the world!

I can’t stress enough on how special this collection is to me. From this collaboration’s perspective, the photos I chose to display show the powder tones used, the texture and the powerful yet simple cuts. From a personal level, this collection has been nourished with a lot of love and passion over the past few months. I can’t wait to show you the whole series in October. You will see AIISHA’s soul in each and every piece and I hope you’ll love it the way I do.

Aiisha in Grazia Magazine.. The birth of a new project

Just before I left to Paris 6 weeks ago, Grazia Magazine supplied me amongst few other designers with a straight forward Little Black Dress from H&M worth 49 Dhs (13 USD) to transform for under 100 Dhs (27 USD) worth of materials.

I love changing existing designs. Since I was young, I used to get basic garments such as a denim pair of jeans and have it altered to fit me and my out of proportion hips. I also love playing around with my dresses, adding trims to them and maneuvering their lengths.

I had about 1 week to get the work done just before I left and get the photoshoot done with me wearing the dress.

I split my my thinking into 3:

- What suits Aiisha’s rounded figure

- Material used has to be under 100 Dhs (27 USD)

- The work I’ll propose shouldn’t take more than 5 days.

I hated the neckline of the given black dress. It was rounded in a funny way where it was neither revealing nor high and elegant, so I changed it. I added some tulle flowers with pearls and black crystals from SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS to accentuate my shoulders. Finally, I draped a piece of black jersey around the lower hips in order to make my waist appear smaller. I kept it short from the front to show more of my Manolo’s. I generally went for the rock chic appeal and it rocked!

Before and After…

The Little Black Dress BEFORE and AFTER..

Front and Back after makeover

My days were crazy as I was on my way to attending the Paris Fashion Week and my entire schedule for the past few weeks was jammed. My makeup prior the photoshoot took literally 20 minutes and my hair took a similar time and looked so beautiful and fresh. I used my Braun Satin Hair 7 Airstyler with IONTEC. You remember my Braun brush with the IONTEC technology? It’s basically my every day brush to make my hair healthier. Braun answered my prayers and made a styling brush with the same technology.

It releases heat in a gentle way. Whereas in most of the salons, I have to constantly ask the hair stylist to keep the blow dryer away from my hair as it kills it. On the other hand, my new favorite Braun gadget provides me style and care at home in less than half an hour!

Here’s Grazia photoshoot results:

Thank you Grazia for the beautiful shoot (especially Elaine Greenshields) & thank you Braun for taking care of my hair!

On a separate note, I’ve been thinking for a very long time to dedicate part of a my blog for the dress makeover project where you may send me your used or, preferably, new clothes along with your budget to change them for you. The changes may be major or minor.

Its still an idea as I’m very busy and my atelier is usually over swamped. Having said that, I’d like to give it a try. So feel free to contact me anytime you’d like to experiment with your clothes.

Viva Beauty Awards 2010 coverage

These are some of the Viva Beauty Awards coverage in Dubai. The winner of the biggest award, the VIVA Reader’s Ultimate Beauty product was of course for Olay Regenerist, which was collected by Monica Shina – wearing Aiisha Ramadan :)

Viva Beauty Awards

The other day I was at the Viva Beauty Awards and even though non of the awards directly relates to me, but I felt the heart beats of the competitors so loud that they could explode from excitement or disappointment. Luckily for my team P&G, they ended up with the below awards:

  • Best Straightener 2010: Braun Satin Hair
  • Best Electric Hair Remover 2010: Braun Silk-Épil
  • Best Daytime Fragrance 2010: Gucci Flora
  • Ultimate Beauty Product 2010: Olay Regenerist

The last award, as per the host, was voted for by thousands of readers. It is the award of the year.. and my favorite part was seeing Monica Shina walking back and forth to collect her awards wearing an Aiisha dress from the Love Affair collection. Strangers and friends kept approaching her telling her how great she looked. That I think, is the best part of my job.

Braun Silk-épil Xpressive Wet & Dry keeps you smooth as a dolphin!

I’m a busy woman. Very busy that I don’t have all day to groom myself, not even everyday. So I chose laser for the most obvious areas in my body and finally after few years, it started to work out. However, for the less exposed parts of my body, that was a nightmare as waxing for me is as painful as it looks in the 40 year-old virgin movie played by Steve Carell!

This is when I discovered that Braun Silk-épil Xpressive Wet & Dry is my time and pain savior as it works in water as well as above. Just like exercising, anything in water becomes less painful and more effortless. In this case, your bath time can be your epilation time with this rechargeable device.

To get the true feeling, a bunch of press ladies and myself were invited to the Atlantis Hotel Dolphin Bay were we experienced touching, dancing and swimming with the dolphins. Nothing could ever beat that experience.

I’ve been to great events, met with amazing people, been here and there but I promise you, nothing beats the incredible feeling of swimming with a dolphin that is smart, beautiful, extremely soft and incredibly loving.

Thank you Braun for such an amazing experience!

Meeting with Chris Hassall

Sunday, the 4th April, was the first live interaction on my blog and it happened to be with Chris Hassall, the Global External Relations Officer of Procter & Gamble. It was basically a comment/ question from his side and an answer from my side discussing blogs, its importance and its relevance to the Arab world.

On that night, I met with the team of P&G and of course with Chris. I enjoyed every minute of it and I specifically appreciated the ideas Chris and I exchanged. These ideas will soon be reflected on my blog. It’s always amazing to see things from a male’s perspective..

P&G is actually a very active organization when it comes to charity and volunteering. One of their main products (PUR Water Filteration) is one that cleans any contaminated water and makes it drinkable. During the Haiti disaster for example, they gave away what was enough for much more than 300,000 people to drink for 90 days. To know more about PUR, visit http://tiny.cc/kg3s4, and Pur Water.

Having said that, from a fashion perspective, the brand “Aiisha” has few charity projects already in process and to be revealed very soon. Once of which is already in the very latest Emirates Women magazine under the topic of Fashion with a Heart.

And the winner is….

Stephanie Khoury!

Stephanie Khoury

As per the below post, we had the competition of the one off piece designed by me for Camay’s Pink scent running on Hellwa Fashion. Many great photos were submitted, it was difficult to chose a favorite. However, Stephanie’s look grabbed my attention from the first time I saw her picture with her Louboutins and mini dress (and you know how short my dresses can get swaying on my catwalks). Its sassy, sexy and mostly – Pink!

More competitions will follow and we’ll be announced shortly.

WIN with Aiisha Ramadan and Camay!!

What I haven’t told you until now is that Camay and I worked on a beautiful project together, very recently. I was asked to design 5 dresses reflecting the personality of Camay’s five new fragrances; Dejour, Crème Delice, Passion, Parfum and Pink. Each of these scents addresses a certain mood that each of us, women, go through sometimes during the same day!

Dejour

Dejour

Dejour is what reminds me of a fresh breath of air.. a practical morning scent. With that, came an off white satin silk jumper with a cowl neck on the back and a beaded bow on a skin color tulle.

Crème Delice

Crème Delice

Crème Delice is my very favorite! Its smells like vanilla and berries.. its about indulging yourself. For that, I created a lavender chiffon silk dress draped like a Roman goddess CRYSTALLIZED™ – by Swarovski Elements.

Passion

Passion

Passion is sensual and mysterious. I had to select a plum purple dress with a diamond resemblance on the neckline.

Parfum

Parfum

Parfum almost always reminds me of some Princess living in a palace with all of her antique and expensive surrounds. Its vintage! The dress, already won in another competition, was about a fully beaded and CRYSTALLIZED™ –  by Swarovski Elements white/ pink bolero with a gathered tulle skirt. It was a modern look for a vintage spirit.

Pink

Pink

Pink says it all. Young, trendy, fun loving gal! Out of that, came my favorite just above the knee dress made of light salmon/ baby pink dress with CRYSTALLIZED™ –  by Swarovski Elements Ruffles and a bow on the neckline. Just like the rest of the dresses, it was made with great care but is indeed the closest to my heart.

Hellwafashion is running a competition this month that gives you the chance to win this dress – it’s a UK 10.

All you have to do is to visit: http://www.hellwafashion.com/ send photos of yourself in either “your favorite fun piece” or “wearing something pink” to reflect the Pink’s spirit, and tell them why you love your outfit.

Keep an eye on my blog for another competition coming soon, that will give you the chance to win one of my lovely dresses.
