Summer Kaftans by AIISHA

Its summer time following Ramadan and Eid. My Studio 8 clients know how crazy I can get with my colored kaftans. This season, we introduced a vast range of colors with emphasis on a classic kaftan with very elegant and subtle beading. This one came in a variaty of tones, from my favorite neon watermelon and white, to nude, turquoise, forest green, orange and a very chic red one.

I had the chance to have a photoshoot the collection with www.AnaZahra.com a platform where I occasionally blog in Arabic. I personally modeled the collection, a designer in the model’s shoes.

We have also introduced a wrap Kaftan which I especially think is extremely elegant and makes me think of a very stylish Abaya. I’ve kept our signature simplicity with bold colors as well as a few pieces in a printed silk with brown base. Although I’m not usually a fan of the color brown in fashion, this one in particular has the material feeling like a fresh breeze.

Its a very practical collection, relatively conservative, and quite affordable. Kaftans – or at least my Kaftan designs – are one of few pieces that can suit ANY body type. Trust me when I say, its a confidence booster!

I always say yes to under water themed photo shoots. With Zahrat Al Khaleej and one of my favorite models Dima, it was a very successful photo shoot and I instantly fell in love with the results.

Paris Hilton goes local..

June 20^th, 2009 Dubai – Typifying her star appeal and unique ability to stir media hysteria, Paris Hilton sashayed into town end of June, bringing her patented mix of celebrity glitz and glamour. Paris was in Dubai to film her new television venture, “Paris Hilton: My New Best friend Forever – Dubai”.

At a highly anticipated press conference promoting the new TV series, Paris Hilton and the 22 wannabe best friends put on a fashion show for the audience. Illustrating the show’s intent and Paris’s specific objective to promote Dubai’s locally inspired fashion scene, 8 of the dresses worn by the fashion show participants were from my resort collection – Aiisha Resort 09/10.

As the press conference fashion show illustrated, my pieces, from the cerise pink floor-length chiffon dress to the emerald long dress adorned with Swarovski crystals, made the ladies look stunning, an explosion of season colours that has fashion lovers enraptured. The local fashion scene is indeed blazing a new path and it has now caught the eye of one of the fashion world’s own iconic ambassadors, Paris Hilton.
